Christmas in August

I have been having a good time making JingleBulbs and at the same time learning more about illustrating children's books by watching SVSLearn on my iPad. For the last couple of years I was making the ornaments in September, but this year I started early and it has been really fun. I plan to have them online in mid September.

The making of Jingle Bulbs

First it starts with a sketch, I carry my sketch pad around all the time, so all year I am thinking of what I could illustrate on my JingleBulbs. I am going to show you an ornament I created in 2009 and the process I used to do that.

Then I prime them to make the paint stick and to make them a  bit stronger.

This one is a good example, I had designed it to have the garland around the buildings, then I changed my mind, I did some with the garland and some without....

And this is the one I really was happy with.
Check out the new ornaments on JingleBulbs.com

Christmas in the summer...

It is hard to believe, but all my bulbs are designed and this years postcard is all done.
And ready to get printed. The challenge is to put myself in a Christmas mood in the summer, but painting the bulbs is so much fun.

Windermere Postcard

I was asked by the shop that carries my hand painted ornaments, called JingleBulbs, to create a postcard for Sparkle night in Windermere Florida. It is a cute little town surrounded by 5 lakes, a suburb of Orlando.
Windermere Design is one of those wonderful stores that I have always loved to browse through. That is what made this postcard fun to do.
